Child of the Light School
celebrates learners at speech day
Child of the Light School has held a Speech and Prize-giving Day to celebrate the academic and cocurricular achievements of its learners. A graduation ceremony was also held for 46 schoolchildren, comprising 29 kindergartners (KG) and 17 Junior High School (JHS) students.
Each graduate received a certificate and a citation. In addition to academic awards, some learners received auxiliary awards for being the neatest, most respectful, best handwriting, most obedient, most improved, most punctual, lady and gentleman of the class, most friendly, among others. Solomon Amenyo received the Gentleman of the Class award, Julian Godfrey Addo was named Best Student in Science and Anastasia Bade-Daamir received the Best Student in French award.
“Together, let us ensure that the Child of the Light School continues to live up to its name, not just a place of studying, but as a beacon of light in our community, in Ghana and beyond,”
Calynn-Michelle Acquah-Assan stood out as she swept three awards, including the Overall Best Student, Most Disciplined and Lady of the Class. Speaking at the event, the chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Mr Isaac Ekow Amissah, encouraged teachers and parents to raise children who are successful academically, morally upright and compassionate. “Together, let us ensure that the Child of the Light School continues to live up to its name, not just a place of studying, but as a beacon of light in our community, in Ghana and beyond,” he said.

Mr Amissah reaffirmed the PTA’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships between the home and the school through initiatives that promoted the wellbeing of students, teachers and staff. Mr Amissah applauded the achievements of the graduating class and commended the school’s leadership and staff for their 25 years of dedication and service. Sharing the story of how the school began, the Proprietress, Mrs Veronica Acheampong, recalled that she started the school in the year 2000 with just five children and a teacher. “Today, we have 47 staff members, 18 classrooms, and two additional floors under construction.
We can now boast of four buses. This journey is truly a testimony of God’s goodness,” she noted. She congratulated the graduating students and urged them to continue to uphold the values and discipline the school had instilled in them. Mrs Acheampong also thanked parents for their support and encouraged them to continue contributing their time, ideas and resources to help the school develop further. In her valedictory speech, the Senior Prefect, Calynn-Michelle Acquah-Assan, thanked parents and teachers for investing in them and preparing them to face the world. She urged her mates to shine the light instilled in them by the school wherever they went.
